What can Physiotherapy help with?

What to expect?

Once an appointment has been booked, you will receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know including location, what to wear and payment options. There will also be an embedded PhysioElise registration form for you to complete before attending your first appointment. This form gives you the opportunity to note down what treatment you want to focus on, and also any relevant medical history that I need to be aware of. This form provides me with a clearer picture of your needs so I can prepare how best we can use our time. It also reduces discussion time at the beginning of the appointment, so I can start assessing and helping you as quickly as possible.

On attending your first appointment, we will review your registration form and discuss your goals and desired outcomes for the session. A physical assessment will then be carried out to determine either areas of pain and/or areas of weakness and possible biomechanical causes for these.

Following your assessment, we will discuss the findings and consider the best management options for you. I will always provide treatment within the first appointment, and treatment typically includes plenty of advice and education, a tailored exercise program, and hands-on treatment.

A follow-up appointment date and recommended session frequency is very dependent on each individual. Within your treatment advice and education, I will provide an estimation of recommended sessions and frequency so we can agree upon a treatment or training plan that is both logistically and financially viable for you.

What forms of treatment can be offered?

Manual therapy: including joint mobilisations or manipulations and soft tissue techniques such as massage.

Exercise rehabilitation: to improve strength, mobility and flexibility.

Movement analysis and correction: to improve posture, movement patterning, reduce the load on sensitive tissues, and improve performance.

Education and advice: essential in your rehabilitation to understand more about your current problem and the best ways you can help to facilitate your recovery.
